High Fire Porcelain In-Glaze Luster All works shown are porcelain vessels fired to a temperature of 2380 degrees Fahrenheit. They are glazed with luster producing chemicals put directly in the glaze. This glazing and firing technique was developed over the past twenty-three years. It was not until 1990 that the process was refined enough to produce consistent and predictable results. High fire luster kilns are not fired in the conventional manner. The high fire luster kiln is fired to maturity, turned off, cooled, restarted, reduced, turned off again, and cooled very slowly. |
